Hi,

After a long time, I have purchased a new laptop.

What were my requirement to purchase a laptop?

I need a laptop which is powerful enough to run Excel and Outlook which I use in Daily life, can debug and run some codes using Visual Studio and SQL Server, capable of playing some media in background while working in night days. Have decent screen but not bigger, I prefer 14 inches because they are easier to carry and look cool. Most important thing is the Laptop must have good battery backup because, there is electricity problem in most time where I leave. One thing which is also considerable is I wanted to have a Genuine Windows. In my existing one, I have been using Beta versions of Windows since the purchase time. Initially Developer Preview of Windows 8 to now Windows 10 Insiders build.

What is my budget?

Well, I pay my bills and all other expenses myself and have to pay for my brother too. He is a student. So I am searching around 30,000 INR , that too in Installments if available.

Search Begins…

Well, I do not change my equipment easily, so I need to thing many times before I buy. Will it last long, What will be there when I need support. Is a brand good enough in market. Is device looks cool/nice? I have searched everywhere, In Dell, HP, Acer, Lenovo, Toshiba and other leading manufacturers, then used Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal and many other sites to compare features as well as price.

As I have been using Acer for last 4 years, I found their product as well as support quite good. In last 4 years, I have visited service center once and that too for exchanging Power Adapter. So, my preference is always Acer, mostly because they are cost efficient too.

What I found (NX.MN2SI.006)?

I stick on Flipkart with a product having Product model number E5-471 NX.MN2SI.006. This product is listed as Acer E5-471 Aspire Notebook (Core i3 4th Gen)/ 4GB/ 500GB/ Win 8) NX.MN2SI.006 in Flipkart.  I checked Acer website and there were too many products in same family. As far as product specification listing, I always check Flipkart (a leading online retailer in India) because they have the most accurate and useful information. Lets have a look at the product I found.

What are the specifications?

This Laptop has Intel Core i3-4005U (1.7 GHz with 3MB L3 cache) processor, generally you can say, i3 4th generation. In built 4 GB of Primary memory in a slot and once empty slot is present. This Laptop can accept maximum of 16 GB RAM. It has 500 GB Hard Disk and consist and DVD Drive too. It also has a HDMI port, 1 USB 3 port, 2 USB port, 1 VGA Port, 1 RJ45 port and a SD Card adapter. It also has a combo key for Mic/Speaker out, Builtin camera and Mic for Skype and other video chatting. This laptop comes with Genuine Windows 8.1  Pro (64 bit) Single Language installed which needs to be activated by user for first time. Other essential features are WiFi and Bluetooth which are both present.

What is good in NX.MN2SI.006?

Battery Backup is too good. I have been using this laptop since last week and found its battery really impressive. I have checked the review of this laptop in Laptopmag, their review made me to believe this and buy this. In their test it lasted for more than 10 hours to get drained while surfing. I have been using it with Mix usage, listening songs, playing movies some time, developing some web apps in Visual Studio and working normally on browser like Writing blog, Answering forum questions, using Facebook & Twitter. Keypad is cool and typing does not create intervention like created in Lenovo laptop that I was using for office use.

What is bad in (E5-471-381P) NX.MN2SI.006?

Nothing is bad. One thing you can say is Touchpad. It do not have buttons for left and right click, they are hidden inside Touchpad which might be some problematic in future but I don’t think it will be.
