Hi,
This is a special article written in request from a friend from Nepal. This article is targeted for all Internet users who have Domain name registered in their local authorities (mostly ccTLDs) where registrar does not offer DNS records Management service. This kind of domain registrations is mostly free and user can only put two IP address of NS (Name Server) records to point domain to some other hosting.
One of the similar situation is applicable for the case of Nepal. Any Nepalese citizen of company/organization can register various .np ccTLD free of cost by submitting few Identity proof and documents those are legally accepted. One thing to remember, Nepal’s official .np Domain Registration. formerly known as MOS (Mercantile Office Systems). Now lets have a look at their Customer Portal where you can manage settings.
Now, you have option to enter three Name Servers (NS) to point to your hosting. Basically every web hosting company provide you Name Servers and asks you to update in your domain control panel.
Requirement
Now, If you wish to use just hosting, no need to do more efforts, just update the records as given by your hosting company and your hosting will be linked to domain as soon as DNS records are updated (might take upto 24 hours). But, if you wish to use subdomains in your hosting eg. forum.domain.com.np and blog.domain.com.np and also email and other services. You need to have a DNS Editor which help you to put all records as normal domain control panel and allows all kind of records.
Most popular kind records available in domain control panel are A, AAAA, MX, CNAME, NS, TXT and SRV. Lets have a look at common domain control panel.
Ok, I think we have understood the requirement of using a domain management service. Let’s move to solution. Everyone working on Internet must have heard of GoDaddy. GoDaddy is an American web hosting and domain registration company and currently the largest ICANN-accredited registrar managing more than 59 million domains. We are going to use GoDaddy’s free domain management service called “Off-site DNS”.
Step 1: Get a account at GoDaddy. Its simple, the do not charge any amount. For your convenience, here is the link to GoDaddy account registration page. Create Account
Step 2: Once you have created account, login to MyAccount.
Step 3: Click on Manage button in My Account domain section. Let’s be clear with screenshot.
Step 4: You will be redirected to Domain Control Center of GoDaddy. Click on More button with plus icon and click on Add Off-site.
Step 5: Now you will be asked to enter domain name.
Step 6: Come back to MOS domain control panel and enter the Nameservers you have copied in GoDaddy.
Submit documents as asked and click update. You may have to wait for some time to allow DNS propagation.
Now you will see your domain in GoDaddy DCC, you can click the domain name to enter DNS Zone File Editor and create any of properties as we have mentioned above.
If you face any kind of problem/error while working on above, you can comment or use contact us option. Thanks to Sagar Devkota for the request.

What is that NS Record for?
NS Stand for Name Servers. These are the alias to web hosting server and point your domain.
